Hello and welcome back to another week of tales featuring my shenanigans. This week I will be showing off my updated Killing Floor map. Updates of what comes next, as well as my boring tales of adventure.
So, this post is basically going to pick up form last week. There won't be much to it, because there won't be much to discuss other than that I am almost there. You hear that? I. Am. Almost There. As in, almost done with the map. It's official, the layout is done. I play-tested it and the flow is great... in my opinion at least. I need to get my friends to play it. Regardless, I am almost done. Anyway, now that that layout and white-box is complete, it's time to come up with an asset list...and a general idea about what I want to do with the map in terms of how it looks. I have a friend who said he could possibly help me out (but we'll see how that goes). I want to get the place looking at least remotely like the place that it is based off of, at least with the objects and placement. There isn't a lot to the original complex, it's mostly empty space. So I'm going to have to find some way to make cover, and make the objects make sense. I was thinking of some kind of small event with a lot of tables, or small vendors of some sort. Something that would make sense but offer decent cover. Possibly a few more pillars. I will have to get creative in the coming weeks.
As far as the project goes, I am giving myself to the end of February. That is just because I believe that is more than enough time (I hope). I'd at least get the level working. Like I said before, functional, most definitely. Nice? Well, I'd like to hope, but I doubt it. My skills aren't "good" in that department, but I would definitely like to give it a shot. I also need to set up the floor a lot better. for texturing purposes. Outside of that, the functional part of the map is complete (as complete as it can be). Now all that is left is asset creation and placement. It should be good to go after that.
As far as side things are going with me, there isn't too much. I've played a lot more XCOM and now I am almost finished. I believe that I am at the last mission of the game, so I'll be done with that this week. I also played some Chrono Trigger. Never beat it, but I am hoping to fix that soon if I can break away from Destiny or Last of US with friends. Yeah, I play a lot of different games. It can be fun, but it gets in the way when you know in the back of your head that you could be doing something a lot more productive. But, I try to say I've earned the break after working so much through my college career. Sometimes it works, and most times it doesn't. But hey, I'll make it one way or another. Also, a message to everyone who anticipated winning the lottery this week.
Good to see you all again, see you next week for another installment of Blogville...or whatever I decide to officially call this thing.
