This week is a full post. I swear. No shortness, or half effort. I'll be talking about a small project I worked on, future stuff I want to work on, and really why I haven't been blogging as much as I wanted to. All that not necessarily in that order.
First off, I apologize for being lame with the posts the last few weeks. Work has been busy, and I have had a bunch of things I needed to take care of with my car and a few other things. I also returned to some issues at home. Don't worry! It's nothing major, no friction between my renters (the parents) or anything, just other stuff. I just wish I had time or the energy to do everything. I wanted to start going to the gym with my friend, and look into new game projects, but I get called into work. Honestly, that's my fault. I could turn around and say I can't work, but I enjoy the money. However, that's stuck me with 64 hour work weeks. So my schedule has been wake up, do chores, go to work (because it's a 3PM-11PM shift...the worst), come home and play games for an hour or two, then sleep. I haven't found too much time to hang out with friends or anything either because of my crazy swing shift. Hopefully by next week I'll have a more consistent shift and I can start planning around to start doing stuff and things.
Alright, so I built a computer. That was the small project. As most of you who read this blog are friends with me on Facebook, you already know this. The thing is great, and I can't wait to start making stuff with it. This thing will definitely obliterate any small performance issues I was having with the laptop. So, I know you guys reading will probably have two questions while reading this. First being: "Why is this dude complaining he has no time? He built himself a computer." Well, it was over a span of two days. I spent one morning before work buying parts, and the next day (a day off finally) building it. Second...and most consider this the important one: "What are the specs?! I need to know!" Well here they are
Asus X99 motherboard
Intel i7 - 5780k 3.3ghz processor
4gb EVGA graphics card
16gb of ram
Corsair liquid cooling
250gb SSD
2tb of storage
So yeah, it's pretty decent for what I need. The only problem is that I really don't have a lot of space. I basically live in a closet and don't really have space for a desk or anything. So I had to set it up a little strange. But I love it. I have Steam and Unity on it so far. I need to go and download Game Maker, and U4 and that should be it.
With the new hardware, comes new projects! Hopefully....I still need to figure stuff out. I really want to fix up the Killing Floor level a bit, but I think I may have to leave it for now. There is a project my friends wanted me to get on, but I fee like they may have left me behind there....hehe. If they did, I really don't blame them. I've had a difficult time being able to keep up with stuff like that, or job hunting. So I was thinking about talking to them about it, or starting my own small game that I can do on my own. I figured that would be cool. But the thing I really really wanna do, is a Doom map for the new Doom game that is coming out. I've been watching videos and saw that there was a level-editor. I know this is pretty old news with this game, but I never thought I would be able to really use it. Now that I have a solid computer, I has hoping to make some cool stuff. So those are some things I am really hoping to do very soon. When those things start really depend on my laziness, and the time I have. Thanks for reading, and see you next week.
