Sorry for the delay for the post. I was too busy partying. With GDC a week away, I'll be talking about a lot of progress made this week. With a few things left, I'm counting down the days to GDC.
Hey, and welcome to another week of fun experiences. Well, they are only sort of fun. Like this week! A lot of interesting things have happened this week. I'll start off with the usual, my Killing Floor map. It's done. Yeah, there it is. Done. Or at least as done as I'd like it. I'm going to be posting it to that ModDB site I featured last week. There are still small things I'd like to tinker with like the spawning, and placement of some assets or textures. Really, there are a lot of things I want to tinker with, but my time is pretty much up. I have less than a week to show this off. I may mess around with placement so things look a lot better, but I won't do any more than that. Regardless of the changes I want to make, I am pretty happy with it. The only real issue that I had this week was the lighting. When I ripped all the lighting out and went to replace it, my computer sort of pooped itself. As in, when I went to rebuild the lighting, there wasn't enough processing power with my hardware to keep up. So that caused the program to crash. To circumvent this, I put down three to four lights, then rebuilt. This way, the engine is only processing a few lights and shadows, compared to anything over that number that would cause the program to crash.
Even if it turns out that no one likes the map, I like it. I also learned a lot from doing this project of mine. Especially with indoor maps. For the longest time, I really enjoyed and ended up specializing with outdoor maps. This game me a chance to really work with modular pieces and practice some indoor lighting. Lighting is a bit rushed, but it's good for now. One thing to know when getting into projects of any kinds whether it is building games or a house, is that the important bits need to be taken care of. After that, then the other stuff go in. So even though it could not be the best-looking map, I can definitely say that I tried to meet it's functional needs.
As for the extra stuff going on this week. Almost no faith in Blind Man. *sigh* However, I will show you some a snippet of the mockup that I did some work on below. It's super loose and not supposed to be heavily involved. In case it actually gets back out, at least I'll have what I want to do with the design.
Now the biggest news this week. I got the go ahead to show people the work I did on MotoGP along with...oh. Drum roll please...got actual proof that my name is on the credits for the game! Now, the game isn't released yet (not sure why). But hopefully it comes out next week when they say it's supposed to. But aside from that, your boy is on a shipped title. We did it, fam! *cough* uh, proof is in the album below. Also, I encourage you to check out the secret link of the day. I won't say what it is, but it's NSFW. No sexual content, but it does contain sensitive material that does not appeal to all audiences. Well, till next week!
3/5/2016 EDIT** Hey! I decided to fulfill that ModDB promise early! You can go to the official page HERE, but the level still needs to be approved before people can download it or view anything else.
